There will be a lot on the plate for new Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth when he steps into his office on the Pentagon’s third floor E Ring.

The action removes oversight in many parts of his new administration, and some members of Congress are suggesting the dismissals violate federal oversight laws.

Hegseth took the oath Saturday from Vice President Vance less than 12 hours after a dramatic late-night vote installed him as the Pentagon's leader.
