Basil Powell, a corrections deputy with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, died Feb. 10 in what detectives called an 'ambush' outside his house.

The funeral arrangements for a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office corrections deputy have been announced. A public viewing will be held for Basil Powell on Friday from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Camel Funeral Home,

Investigators say Basil Powell, 39, a corrections deputy at the West Detention Center in Belle Glade, was returning to his home on the 1400 block of Northwest Avenue D the night of Feb. 10 when he was ambushed and killed by a gunman.

It's hoped the concert, along with raffles and silent auction, will raise $30,000 for the loved ones left behind by the deaths of Corporal Luis Paez, Deputy Sheriff Ralph "Butch" Waller, and Deputy Sheriff Ignacio "Dan" Diaz.
