The Houston Astros took yet another hit to their starting rotation on Monday, as according to The Athletic's Chandler Rome veteran right-hander Lance McCullers

One of the Houston Astros' best pitchers who has recently been beset by injuries got more tough news about his health on Monday.

It’s Monday, June 16 and the Astros (41-30) take on the Athletics (29-44). Lance McCullers is slated to take the mound for Houston against Mitch Spence for the Athletics. The Athletics are flying high. They are coming off a series sweep of the Kansas City Royals, including a 4-0 shutout in game two of the series.

The hits just keep coming in the form of injuries to the Houston Astros roster. On Monday, the club announced that Lance McCullers Jr. will be placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right foot sprain.

Through seven games of his return to the Houston Astros after an absence of two-plus seasons, Lance McCullers Jr. has had outings that went very well and quite badly. Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox was one that McCullers lumped into the "weird" category.

As it’s currently constructed, the Astros’ starting rotation has two aces in Hunter Brown and Framber Valdez, a pair of rookies trying to find their way in Colton Gordon and Ryan Gusto and veteran Lance McCullers Jr.
