Two planes collided midair Wednesday at the Marana Regional Airport near Tucson, Arizona, leaving two passengers dead, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

"This is an unprecedented event, and we are grateful for the swift response from the Marana Police Department and Northwest Fire District.”

The plane that landed safely was operated by the Chandler location of a flight school. Two people died in the crash.
