In a new cover story interview with Rolling Stone, the "What Was That" singer, 28, opened up about feeling "in the middle gender-wise" rather than identifying strictly as a man or a woman and recalled once duct-taping her chest in order to express how she thought of herself in the moment.

Lorde is comfortable in her own skin, which means she’s not restricting herself when it comes to her gender identity. She broaches the topic in the lyrics on “Virgin,” her first new album in four years. In the album’s opening song, she boldly declares, “Some days I’m a woman/ Some days I’m a man.”

In my experience, nobody loves gossip about the LGBTQ+ community more than…well, members of said community. To wit: I’ve recently been involved in a lot of conversations about what, precisely, is going on with Lorde ’s gender identity, a topic that the 28-year-old musician shed new light on in an interview with Rolling Stone this week.
