Jeep Weekend is here and Galveston County Sheriff Jimmy Fullen has a new plan to control crowds of partiers. Find updates from the beach here.

The loosely organized, annual gathering is slated for this weekend on Bolivar Peninsula. As part of the new rules, those without a permit will only be able to drive within the designated event zone, which will have a single access point and a single exit point.

Sheriff Fullen established a 6.2-mile stretch of Crystal Beach from Stingaree Road to Honeysuckle Lane as a traffic-controlled zone, where stopping, standing, parking, camping and golf carts are prohibited. He also stationed more than 400 officers from 14 law enforcement agencies around the peninsula to enforce these new rules.
