Scottish business tycoon and philanthropist Sir Tom Farmer has passed away at the age of 84, his family announced on Friday.

KWIK Fit founder Tom Farmer has died at the age of 84. Sir Tom, who founded the garage chain, was also a former director of MyTravel Group and Scottish Power, died at his Edinburgh home on Friday.

In a statement, his family said: ‘The family of Sir Tom Farmer are deeply saddened to announce his death at the age of 84. Sir Tom died peacefully at home in Edinburgh on Friday May 9th.
