Not everyone in Major League Baseball is enamored with the new torpedo bat craze, as one All-Star recently divulged. Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy is among the players who gave the new torpedo bat a try after the New York Yankees’ initial success with it.

MIT physicist Aaron Leanhardt has been credited with creating the torpedo bats. Leanhardt previously served as a hitting analyst with the Yankees before he joined the Miami Marlins as a field coordinator in the offseason.

While Aaron Judge rocked three homers using his normal bat, a number of Yankees opted for the Torpedo bat, which was designed in part by former Massachusetts Institute of Technology physicist Aaron Leanhardt and are notable for being densest at the barrel, or the "sweet spot" of the bat.
