Emergency services and soldiers rushed to the Russian consulate in Marseilles in southern France following an explosion inside the building - police have placed a perimeter around the site

Two projectiles were thrown at the perimeter wall of Russia’s consulate, one exploded. The incident took place on the 3rd anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The explosions were caused by two Molotov Cocktails being thrown over the walls of the property, a Marseille police source confirmed. “There were two loud explosions and material damage, but nobody was injured,” said the source. “The building remains in lockdown, and a criminal enquiry has been launched.”

According to local media reports, the consulate was attacked with Molotov cocktails by unidentified individuals. Two of these incendiary devices were reportedly hurled into the consulate's garden around 7:30am local time. According to the Moscow Times, a stolen vehicle was found in the area of the explosion.
