Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Washington Commanders announced the team’s return to the district with a new stadium deal on Monday. For the return to happen, however, it needs the approval of the D.

Commanders ownership has been considering places in Washington, Maryland and Virginia since buying the team from Dan Snyder in 2022. The most recent progress came when Congress passed a bill transferring the RFK Stadium land to D.C. Former President Joe Biden signed it into law in early January.

There’s excitement surrounding the announcement that the Commanders could be coming back to D.C. but there’s also some people against a new stadium at RFK, from residents and some members of council.
