Met Office deputy chief meteorologist Mike Silverstone said: “The strongest gusts are likely to be felt across parts of Northern Ireland, northern England, north-western Wales and western Scotland, where exposed sites could get gusts in excess of 80mph, which has the potential to cause impacts for those in these areas.

Dozens of flights from Heathrow have been cancelled as the Met Office issues warnings for more wind and rain
Snow and ice warnings were in force on Sunday morning across Northern Ireland and nearly all of mainland Scotland, with a wind alert in the Highlands and Hebrides in place until 7pm. The Environment Agency has issued more than 30 flood alerts and a more severe flood warning in England, as forecasters warn of up to 80mm of rain.
