A 15-year-old Lafayette High School student was killed in a shooting over the weekend, marking the city's first homicide of 2025 according to Lafayette Police.

Daniel Montgomery, father of slain 15-year-old Tameron Willis, is speaking out two days after his son was murdered. This comes after Lafayette Police said they were called to the 200 block of Arthur Street around 7pm Saturday night in response to shots fired.

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Tameron Willis, 15, of Lafayette, was shot multiple times and killed along Arthur Street over the weekend. His father said the teen was an innocent victim who was killed while walking home. The family is now mourning the loss of their teenage boy. Relatives are lost and searching for closure.
