A woman was wounded after an assault and a gunman who later kept police at bay died by suicide in an incident in Farmington on Sunday, the city said.

Officials say a 47-year-old woman was killed along with the gunman following a barricaded situation in Farmington on Sunday evening.

When the police arrived, they found a woman who had been shot, and her husband had retreated into their house.

One person was shot and a suspect is dead after a standoff in Farmington Sunday night, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Houhanisin said officers were called to the area of Farmington Road and Nine Mile at about 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of an assault in progress. Officers found a 47-year-old woman who had been shot.
