Shortly after noon Eastern at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Colton Herta was inverted on the track, after a hard crash early in the Full-Field Qualifying session left his No. 26 Andretti Global Honda upside down and leaning against the wall. A few hours later, Herta was in the field for the 109th Indianapolis 500.
Starting positions that have never produced a winner: 18, 23, 24, 26, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 (that's bad news for Devlin Defrancesco, Callum Ilott, Helio Castroneves, Nolan Siegel, Colton Herta, Graham Rahal, Marco Andretti, Marcus Armstrong, Rinus Veekay).
Several drivers who expected to be vying for the Indy 500 pole either narrowly clinched a spot Saturday or still have work left to do
