The Terriers secured their 32nd Beanpot crown after taking control in a second period that saw Hutson, the tournament MVP, score the go-ahead goal shortly after Brandon Svoboda tallied the tying strike.

The Terriers advanced to the championship game for the 57th time when they took down the Harvard Crimson 7-1 in the semifinals. Boston University is 31-25 in Beanpot finals. This will be the 23rd time the two rivals have met in the Beanpot Final. BU is 12-10 in championship games against the team from Chestnut Hill.

The No. 8 Terriers (16-10-1) won the rubber match with the No. 1 Eagles (21-5-1) after dropping a weekend home-and-home series back on Jan. 24 and 25. BU won its record 32nd Beanpot title and are now 13-10 against BC in championship games.

Coming out of the weekend, BC was first in the Hockey East standings and BU third. That puts the rivals on a collision course for another clash in next month’s tournament final.

Strange as it seems, Monday night’s matchup between Boston College and Boston University will mark the first time the two schools have faced off in the championship game of the men’s Beanpot since 2016.

Hutson shared a hug with one of his brothers, Cole, who won the Beanpot MVP award after recording three goals and two assists throughout the tournament. Hutson’s other brother, Quinn, and Celebrini’s brother, Aiden, are also members of the team.
