Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson adds new members to the Special Committee on Gun Violence Prevention.

According to police, the woman told officers that her husband had returned home, kicking in both the front and back door and forcibly making his way inside the house, after leaving about a week ago. Threats soon followed, prompting her to grab a handgun and fire, striking him once in the upper right shoulder, police said.

A woman was shot in the shoulder and killed inside a second-floor bedroom of a South Philadelphia home Thursday, police said. The shooting occurred around 5:15 p.m. on May 22, 2025, along the 2100 block of Bailey Terrace -- just off Point Breeze Avenue, Philadelphia police said.
